3D printing allows you to quickly go through iterations of your product without high costs. There is minimal waste and no need to adjust or remake molds. This is also a good way to test which material would be best suited for your application.
For small or medium scale production runs, it might not be worth going with injection molding as the entry cost is very high. With 3D printing there is no initial cost, only cost per part.
While larger quantities do not become more cost effective per part like with injection molding, for small or medium scale production it’s still overall cheaper to go with 3D printing.
